Reading together before bed can be as simple as choosing one story and finding a comfortable place to sit. Here are a few ideas to try at your own pace.
Let your child choose
Offer a couple of stories and see which one catches their attention. A familiar favorite is fine, even if you read it yesterday. Look at the cover together and talk about what you notice.
Leave room for pauses
Read aloud or listen to narration together. Pause when your child points to a picture or asks a question. You do not need to finish every page or turn the story into a lesson.
Talk about a favorite moment
When you are ready to stop, ask which picture or moment they liked best. Share your own favorite, then put the story away for another day.
